CAD Skills for Interiors Certificate

The CAD Skills for Interiors Certificate is designed for students to learn a variety of techniques and skills associated with print reading for computer aided drafting. Students learn to use 2D and 3D computer aided drafting to develop their interior design skills, enhance their design process, and their ability to portray design concepts. Students use advanced 3D CAD software concepts to create rendered interior spaces. In addition, students are introduced to basic drafting tools and techniques and learn to draft floor plans and interior elevations.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the CAD Skills for Interiors certificate program, students should be able to:

  • Create 2D design plans and 3D visualization models and presentations for interior design applications using advanced AutoCAD and AutoDesk Revit software
  • Produce construction documents (e.g., topographic site plans, elevations, 3D models, templates, and presentations) using AutoDesk Revit Architecture software
  • Design interior projects to include floor plans, dimensions, elevations, sections, details, lighting, special features and finishes
