MAT 050 - Quantitative Literacy


4 Credit Hour(s) • 60 Contact Hours (Lecture)
Prerequisite: Accuplacer 30-60 (EA) or AR>39, and co-requisite AAA 109 . If students opt out of testing, they will take MAT 020  concurrently
Develops number sense and critical thinking strategies, introduce algebraic thinking, and connect mathematics to real world applications. Topics in the course include ratios, proportions, percents, measurement, linear relationships, properties of exponents, polynomials, factoring, and math learning strategies. This course prepares students for MAT 120 - Mathematics for the Liberal Arts MA1 , MAT 135 - Introduction to Statistics MA1 , MAT 155 - Integrated Math I , MAT 156 - Integrated Math II , and college level career math courses.
