MTE 1100 Print Reading Manufacturing 3 Credits
Instructs students in reading and understanding industrial prints. This course covers basic drafting and print standards, fundamentals of shape description, fundamentals of size description and annotation, industrial drawing types, and specialized parts and prints. Symbol interpretation, tolerancing and dimensioning standards are also covered.
MTE 1101 Introduction to Manufacturing 3 Credits
Focuses on the fundamentals of manufacturing and the responsibilities of the manufacturing technician, including design, procurement, assembly, maintenance, operations, accounting and the importance of Quality Assurance (QA) throughout the manufacturing process.
MTE 1102 Safety Manufacturing Environment 1 Credit
Introduces Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) federal and state regulations, industrial practices, and accident investigation techniques; including topics such as hazard communication standards, lockout/tagout procedures, eye safety, lifting techniques, electrical safety, stored energy safety, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and safety program development and monitoring.
MTE 1103 Introduction to Additive Manufacturing (AM) 1 Credit
Introduces the fundamentals of additive manufacturing. This course will explore additive manufacturing technologies, materials, design considerations, and applications across industries. The course presents how additive manufacturing streamlines manufacturing processes, improves production, and increases profitability.
MTE 1104 Automated Systems and Programming 3 Credits
Provides a comprehensive overview of automated manufacturing systems, focusing on the integration of programming languages, artificial intelligence (AI) applications, and cybersecurity considerations in modern industrial environments. Theoretical knowledge and practical skills to secure automated industrial infrastructure will also be covered.
MTE 1130 Metrology 3 Credits
Exposes the student to the principles of dimensional metrology. Students will learn how to use common measuring instruments relating to state-of-the-art manufacturing environments. Students will also learn the importance of Quality Control, TQM, and SPC processes as they relate to manufacturing environments. Use of a coordinate measuring machine will be delivered.
MTE 2080 Manufacturing Internship 0-12 Credits

MTE 2089 Manufacturing Capstone 0-12 Credits

MTE 2310 Design for Manufacturability 3 Credits
Introduces Design for Manufacturability (DFM) engineering techniques for manufacturing parts to meet specifications for assembly, testing, integration, operation, maintenance, and end-of-life management, while considering the importance of designed-in quality, the role of design tolerances, and the need for standardized parts using Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD), Computer-Aided Machining (CAM), and Computer-Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) software in product development.
Prerequisite(s): MAC 1002 with a minimum grade of C or MAC 102 with a minimum grade of C or MTE 1200 with a minimum grade of C or MTE 120 with a minimum grade of C
MTE 2330 Strength of Materials 3 Credits
Serves as an extension of Statics and includes the study of mechanical
properties of materials and their limitations in engineering design by the study or
stresses, strains, torsion forces, shear forces, and deflections placed upon these
materials.
